Homework Guidance
Learning at home is an essential part of a good education. Regular homework is important as it gives students the opportunity to practice at home the tasks covered in class and helps the students work towards improving important skills. It also helps children and young people to become confident and independent in their learning, which will help throughout their time at school and in adult life.

To support your child with homework and any other aspects of their learning, we offer DIAL (Drop In And Learn), which takes place in the Learning Resources Centre every day from 08:00-08:40 and 15:05-16:05. The sessions are led by students in our Sixth Form, where child will be able to make full use of our reference books, resources and computers during these sessions and will be supported with their learning.
We operate an after school detention for homework issues; this takes place with the individual faculty. If your child has failed to complete homework tasks you will receive a letter outlining the work missing and the date of the detention. During these detentions, your child will complete the work outstanding. I would be most grateful for your support in this initiative and hope this sanction will give your child the incentive to organise their time effectively, to produce high quality homework tasks.
