Lipson Students Show Real Enterprise

On the 26rth September, a group of Year 12 students from Lipson Co-operative Academy attended the citywide launch of the ‘Young Enterprise Scheme’.

The scheme allows students the opportunity to set up, develop and lead their own product based business with teams across Plymouth going head to head. Tuesday night was the perfect opportunity for students to speak to representatives from Young Enterprise and quiz local business people, as well as talk to last year’s finalists.

The Lipson team will be busy over the coming weeks establishing their business and creating their ‘winning’ product and we should be seeing our budding ‘Alan Sugars’ launching their product at a trade show at Christmas.

Through taking part in the scheme young people will gain a valuable insight into all areas of business and product development and will be setting up a business that could one day become a leading brand. If successful they may win the local heats before going through to the Regional, National and European final.

Principal Lynda Budd commented, ‘Lipson has always been known as a creative place to learn and the Young Enterprise Scheme will allow our students to develop innovation in a wider context. I am delighted to see such drive in our students’.
