Sixth Form - Application Process

How many subjects do I choose?

We recommend that all students study 3 subjects if they are following the academic pathway. In some cases, and based on GCSE results students can take up to 4 subject choices.

How do I apply?

Internal students need to apply by completing the online Sixth Form application form through their school email address using the QR code below. External applicants must complete the application form included in this pack.

When is the deadline?

All applications should be received by Friday 2nd December 2023. Applications received after the deadline date will be held on the waiting list.

Can I change my courses after the deadline?

Yes, you can still make changes to your application form. All the courses you have selected and your suitability will be discussed at your interview. 

When are the interviews?

Interviews will take place during January. These will be arranged at a convenient time for internal students during the school day and an open afternoon will be held for any external students in February. 

On the day of the interview both internal and external students will need to bring evidence of their predicted GCSE grades and current attendance percentage.

How to apply 

Please follow the simple steps to apply for your place at Lipson Sixth Form:

    1. Identify what subjects that you are interested in – use this prospectus to find out about the subjects we offer that interest you. If you would like any further information about a specific subject please do not hesitate to get in contact with School using the contact information on the back page.
    2. Decide your order of preference – Rank your chosen subjects in order of preference from 1 to 5. 1 being your first choice. Although you will likely study 3, we get you to choose one or two reserve subject choices in case your chosen courses cannot run due to lack of interest or there is a clash with other subjects.
    3. Apply – Applications to Sixth Form for current Lipson students can be made via an online google form which is accessible from your school email. External applicants can complete the form below. 
    4. Attend an interview – After we receive your application we will invite you to attend an interview with one of the team who will also be able to answer any questions you may have. We will also be able to check your suitability and check any further aspirations of university if needed. 
    5. Receive your offer -  We will let you know if you’ve been successful and offer you a conditional place at Lipson Sixth Form subject to achieving the relevant entry requirements.
    6. Results Day - Place in Lipson Sixth Form confirmed after GCSE grades. If your results are not what you were expecting we can discuss your options.
