Important Social Media Update – June 2017

Snapchat have recently added a new feature to its photo sharing service. The mapping feature posts the location of the user whenever they open/use the app. The user does not have to post to Snapchat for their location to be recorded and shared.

Users are able to view the map with their associated contacts by simply pinching the screen, or performing the zoom out motion on the camera view.

The location mapping is turned on by default and users will need to activate ‘Ghost mode’ in order to hide their location.

If the device using the app has location sharing services off, the app will not track and post the users location.

We wanted to bring this new feature to the attention of all students and parents so that you are able to make an informed decision regarding the broadcasting of your location with all snapchat contacts.
