Lipson Students Show Real Enterprise

On the 26rth September, a group of Year 12 students from Lipson Co-operative Academy attended the citywide launch of the ‘Young Enterprise Scheme’.

The scheme allows students the opportunity to set up, develop and lead their own product based business with teams across Plymouth going head to head. Tuesday night was the perfect opportunity for students to speak to representatives from Young Enterprise and quiz local business people, as well as talk to last year’s finalists.

The Lipson team will be busy over the coming weeks establishing their business and creating their ‘winning’ product and we should be seeing our budding ‘Alan Sugars’ launching their product at a trade show at Christmas.

On Wednesday 20th October students and staff at Lipson Co-operative Academy travelled to The University of Bath Sports Training Village, as part of an academy project to promote participation in lifelong rugby.

The Lipson contingent was lucky enough to meet some of Europe’s leading sports scientists and use some of the most up to date sports science technology that supports some of our most successful athletes. Students were put through their paces and tested against the performance measures of professional rugby players, and, impressively, a number of students matched those levels.

Oxford University Success for Lipson Co-operative Academy Student

Lipson Co-operative Academy could not be prouder of their recent Alumni, David Howard Baker who, following his foundation degree, has been accepted to read Music at Oxford University in September 2017.

David was one of the first students to have benefited directly from Lipson’s specialist tutor groups alongside free tuition on several instruments as part of their outstanding music provision at Lipson.

His assiduous approach to music has assisted in him securing a place to read music at Oxford after his foundation year at Lady Margaret's Hall.  His music teacher, Peter Twyman, was invited to a guest night at Oxford University last week in order to celebrate with David.
