Headteacher's Blog 28th January 2022
I would like to start this week by thanking the students, staff and wider community for the support and respect shown since the sad news of the passing of Stevie Mitchell. We have received some truly moving messages of condolence which we are in the process of combining into a book for Stevie’s family to keep. The funeral is set to take place next Thursday, with more detail to follow.
Despite the terrible news last week, staff and students have gone about their daily lives in a normal orderly fashion. This was particularly evident in the calm and mature way that Year 11 and 13 have gone about their mock exams. Undertaking these assessments in true exam conditions, students have been focused and determined to achieve their very best. Student behaviour has been exemplary by all. We are looking forward to the real thing taking place in the summer and know that students are well prepared for what to expect.
Year 9 Options Evening will take place on Thursday next week. Parents and students are invited to attend in person to this important event. Staff will be ready and waiting with display boards, course guides and exemplary work to steer students towards studying the right subject at GCSE. The evening is very important to ensure a fully informed decision is made to take the correct path of study for the future. We look forward to welcoming you from 5pm.
Some very exciting news for next week is the launch of our Enrichment week programme! On Monday and Tuesday next week students will attend a launch event where they will take away an Enrichment week brochure to show parents ready for the sign-up morning of 4th February. After having 2 years of not being able to run this event, we have pulled out all the stops to offer a truly amazing programme of activities. There really is something for everyone and we are really excited about offering these fantastic opportunities to all of our students.
I would normally be sending out a video blog today but our very own Steven Spielberg has been struck down with the dreaded ‘C’ word! We hope Mr Lukas will be fighting fit next week so he can try and get me on my best side.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
